CHP Chairman and Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in Şanlıurfa, a disaster area

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader and Nation Alliance Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, together with IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener and Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, visited Şanlıurfa, where the floods occurred, and made a statement to the press afterwards.

CHP leader and Presidential Candidate Kılıçdaroğlu said the following in his statement to press members:

Sir, first of all, we convey our get well wishes. We wish God's mercy on those who died. Our people from Sanliurfa have just voiced their complaints. Let me express this. No one in Şanlıurfa should feel alone. We have come here not only as the heads of the Nation Alliance but also as representatives of the government that will be formed in May. We know there are many problems. We know that ordinary citizens are paying the bills for severe issues. We know people have lost their lives; we see, read, and listen. There are complaints, and we listen to them too. If a country is managed well, cities resistant to disasters are formed. Will there be water, floods, extreme winds, and earthquakes? You have to create resilient cities. When you don't make these, why do you govern this country? How do you govern it?

We just saw it over there. They built an underpass. For God's sake, would you wait hours to bring a pump and drain the water? Do you wait for hours? What kind of administration is this? What kind of state management is this?

We will solve all these problems. No one should feel hopeless; we will solve them all. With a new understanding, by completely changing the mentality, whoever is doing their duty is welcome. Still, we have to say goodbye to whoever is not doing their duty and is preparing the environment for incidents that lead to deaths.

As I said before, we are all aware of the developments, and no one should feel hopeless. God willing, we will solve all these problems. We will come together and solve them.

We are together; we are together. We know the problems of the country very well. We know very well that cities need to be better managed. But it is possible to solve these problems with reason, knowledge and science. If someone else can solve them, why can't we? We must do this, and we will realize all of these.
