CHP Chairman and Nation Alliance Presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu held a rally in Zonguldak on May 1, Labour and Solidarity Day. Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu also attended the rally.
CHP Chairperson and Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said the following in his speech at the Zonguldak rally:
- "They bring coal from South America and South Africa. They bring coal from abroad; they pay the highest price of 50 million, 60 million dollars. But, for God's sake, there is a black diamond under these mountains; thousands want to work. I promised that I will fulfil it when I become the President with your votes, God willing; I will gradually hire 5 thousand workers, 5 thousand."
- "They have turned the Republic of Turkey into a party state. The state will be ruled by people with merit again."
- "We will make investments. 'Sir, the Filyos Port will not be built if CHP comes, if Kılıçdaroğlu comes...' Why not? No, why not? Is it your father's property? It is the property of the Republic of Turkey. And we will do it; we will do better, we will do better."
- "This brother of yours is following the murder of Sinan Ateş very well, don't worry at all. They are trying to close the file. I will not let them close that file; I will catch the murderers and bring them to justice!"
- "They say, 'Why did Kilicdaroglu say no to the Syrian memorandum?'. What was in the Syria memorandum? There was the right to invite foreign troops to Turkey to fight against terrorist organisations. As a politician of an understanding that fought the War of Independence and came from that tradition, I never want a foreign soldier in my country. Our security forces have made history in the fight against terrorism and have achieved great success. We take one's hat off to them. You stand up and say you will invite foreign soldiers to fight against terrorism. Will Mr Kemal say yes to this?"
- "I will bring spring to this country. I will be the President of 85 million people. I will not discriminate. I will reconcile 85 million people regardless of which party, identity, or belief."
