CHP CHAIRPERSON AND NATION ALLIANCE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE KEMAL KILIÇDAROĞLU: "TODAY'S TOPIC IS PETROCHEMICAL SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES"

CHP Chairperson and Nation Alliance Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu shared the sixth of his election campaign video titled 'Mr Kemal's Board' on his social media account this evening.

CHP Chairperson and Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "One of the most important items in Turkey's current account deficit is the petrochemical industry. Approximately 30 per cent of the current account deficit is due to the import of petrochemical products. We will produce these products in our own country. Thus, we will close the current account deficit of 20 billion dollars annually. In addition, we will create two Petrochemical Special Economic Zones. We will establish one of these zones in Adana Yumurtalık and the other in Tekirdağ Marmara Ereğlisi."

He made the following statements in the video he shared with a note:

"Dear people, welcome.

I continue to explain my projects that will enable Turkey to produce again, enrich Turkey and, more importantly, spread this wealth to all people fairly.

Today, our topic is Petrochemical Special Economic Zones.

The petrochemical industry is one of the most essential items of Turkey's current account deficit. Approximately 30 per cent of the current account deficit is the result of imports of petrochemical products. We will produce these products in our own country. Thus, we will close the current account deficit of 20 billion dollars annually.

We will create two Petrochemical Special Economic Zones. We will establish one of these zones in Adana Yumurtalık and the other in Tekirdağ Marmara Ereğlisi. Competitive, high-quality petrochemical products will be processed in this zone, which consists of a total area of approximately 40 thousand decades. We will produce with public-private sector co-operation. At the same time, high-capacity petroleum and petroleum products will be stored, processed and shipped in these regions. Oil refineries, ports and factories will be built as part of the project. Fifteen thousand people will be directly employed. Public infrastructure investments will be 1.5 billion dollars.

We aim for the region to receive 6 billion dollars of investment in the first stage and to attract direct investment of around 30 billion dollars in 10 years. Moreover, we will realise this production with innovative technologies. We will invest in green production. We will live the industrial transformation of Turkey. We will start implementing this project in the first year of our government because Turkey deserves to be enriched.
