CHP Chairperson and Nation Alliance Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's letter of congratulations sent to the Resident Ambassadors of EU Member States on the occasion of '9 May EU Day' is as follows:

Dear Mr. Ambassador,

I would like to sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of 9 May, "Europe Day", which expresses strong support for fundamental universal values such as the rule of law, human rights and freedoms, freedom of the press, and freedom of thought and expression.

The Republican People's Party has played an essential role in Turkey's EU membership and initiated this accession process by signing the Ankara Agreement. Furthermore, in the reform process carried out in Turkey to achieve this goal, CHP has made great efforts to implement and harmonise with EU standards.

Turkey's EU membership is a fact that closely concerns not only Turkey's future but also the future of the EU. This goal is also crucial for the EU's security, stability and prosperity. Moreover, Turkey is a valuable partner for the EU with its geostrategic position, economic potential and cultural richness.

On the occasion of Europe Day, I would like to underline once again the importance of solid European solidarity. Therefore, I congratulate you, and I wish Turkey to achieve its goal of EU membership and further strengthen EU-Turkey relations.
