CHP Chairperson Özgür Özel Visited Anıtkabir with PA and HDB Members

Republican People's Party Chairperson Özgür Özel visited Anıtkabir together with the members of the Party Assembly and the High Disciplinary Board elected at the 38th Ordinary Congress. The delegation, led by CHP Chairperson Özgür Özel, walked from the Lion Path to the mausoleum of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at Anıtkabir.

After Chairperson Özel laid a wreath of red and white carnations on the mausoleum, a moment of silence was observed.

CHP leader Özel, who then proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower, wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Honorary Book:

"11 November 2023

Honoured Atatürk,

Esteemed President,

We are here before you with our Party Assembly and High Discipline Board members who took office at our 38th Congress held on 4-5 November.

In the 100th year of our Republic, we are regretting not being able to bring our Party, which you founded and entrusted to us, to power.

In the second century of our Republic, our first congress gave us the task of bringing our Party, one of your two great works, to power. Firstly, we will fulfil this duty and then, as you bequeathed to us, we will bring your other great work, the Republic of Turkey, to the level of contemporary civilisations.

Honourable Chairman,

At a time when your revolutions are being eroded, our six arrows are being tried to be rendered null and void, attempts against the constitutional order are being made, and the separation of powers is being ignored, in the second century of our Republic, which you described as "the protector of the helpless", we will persistently and stubbornly fight with determination and perseverance to fulfil our duty to defend and strengthen the democratic, secular and social state of law in order for all our citizens to live in better conditions without discrimination.

We express our gratitude to you and your comrades in arms, and we remember with compassion all our martyrs and all our citizens who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy.
