- "We have a goal for the Middle East and decided to establish the Middle East Peace and Cooperation Organization. The Middle East Peace and Cooperation Organization is Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. So why don't we come together? Why do we look at each other differently in the face of what has happened in the Middle East? Well, these problems can be solved. Very well, we can come together. Very well, we can make a special effort to alleviate people's suffering."
-"I am pleased to be with you on such a beautiful evening. You listened to two valuable speakers, and I listened with great attention.
With Mr. Temel, we tried to make a new understanding dominant in Turkish politics: Being together and united. Explaining beauty to all segments of society will significantly benefit and advantage this society. Nothing came out of fighting, and nothing came out of bickering. But when we are together, in unity, we can easily convey the country's beauty to all segments of society. Neither I nor Mr. Temel has any particular desire. If there is a desire, this country must continue on its path in peace. This is our greatest desire.
It's Ramadan, yes. It is a holy month. We are in a month when our spiritual feelings are enriched. It is a month when we express friendships and unity. There has been an earthquake disaster, and we are trying to heal the wounds caused by this disaster together in Turkey. But we have a promise to this nation. We will rebuild the houses, shops and barns of everyone whose shops were destroyed, homes were damaged, and barns were destroyed. Those people will be able to feed their animals at least, do their shopping in their houses, shops and barns, and sit comfortably in their homes, shops and barns under the protection of the social state without paying a penny. We cannot bring back the dead, but 42 people signed for the construction of those buildings, and 13 documents were issued, all public officials. One person, the one who bought the shop, the one who bought the house, put a single signature on the title deed; he said, 'These buildings were built solid, the state has given its guarantee, documents have been issued', 43 people signed, from the physical engineer to the architect, so let me go and buy my flat, let me buy my shop. Therefore, we must rebuild those houses and shops and hand them to the rightful owners. Indeed, we cannot bring back the dead, but we will sit down and make amends. We cannot get back the dead, but it means we are making all the obligations and sacrifices that fall upon us as a social state. On this occasion, we owe a debt of gratitude to the whole world, especially the Islamic countries and all of you, for your help. We have seen friendship and humanity together in the aid process, so we thank you.
Let me start with a question: Why are there suffering, pain, and tears in Islamic countries? In fact, the Islamic world made breakthroughs in science, from sociology to mathematics, from medicine to space sciences. The extraordinary scientific developments that the Islamic world realized immediately after Islam led to the Renaissance in the Middle Ages. Why is the Islamic world, which has taken such advanced steps in science and technology, lagging in the 21st century? We all need to question this.
Moreover, the Almighty Creator says in the Holy Quran, "Do you not use your intellect?" The way to use intellect is to discover the miracles of the Almighty Creator and the blessings He offers us. This is the essence of science and technology. Countries that advance in science and technology can easily take their culture to other countries. Therefore, we must attach great importance to science, technology, and universities. If the death of a scholar is like the death of the universe, if our beloved Prophet attributes the end of a scholar to the death of the universe, it shows how much importance the Islamic world attaches to science. If our beloved Prophet says, 'Go and learn even if knowledge is in China,' he tells us how important science is. If it is said, 'The ink of a scholar is superior to the blood of a martyr,' they are telling us how valuable science and the pen of a scholar are. The question is: Why did we break away from here? Why did we break away from here?
We have to bring justice to our country and the Islamic world. Mr. Karamollaoğlu also clearly expressed the tragedy in Palestine and the Palestinians. There is a drama that has been going on there for years, there are people whose rights have been violated, and there are people whose rights have been usurped. So if we are going to stand on the side of the right and, of course, we have to stand on the side of Palestine and the Palestinian cause. Otherwise, we would be rejecting the faith we have been taught. If the one who is silent in the face of injustice is the dumb devil, we will not be silent in the face of injustice, and if there is injustice somewhere, we will oppose it. This can be my close relative, my relative or someone I don't know at all. Therefore, Islam already teaches us about rights, law and justice. It leads to right, law and justice.
There is a famous saying by the Iranian sage Sadi, 'All the rivers of the world are not enough to quench the thirst of a man who thirsts for justice.' We all thirst for justice; we want justice in our country. We also wish for justice in the world. Therefore, if we can teach our own history, Islamic history, the starting point and sources of Islam to our children, we can teach science, we can teach technology, we can teach humanity, we can teach justice, we can teach law, we can teach respect for wise people; we can teach them all. Our roots are solid, but our sprouts are a bit weak. So we have to strengthen our roots. We have to nurture and grow the Knowledge that comes from the roots to us, to the sprouts. We have a glorious history, and the Islamic world also has a glorious past; I have just said that Islamic scholars did all this, scientists, those who found numbers, and those who questioned space and what is happening in space.
When you go backwards from Knowledge and science, you go backwards from justice, and a process of rotting begins in a society; we need to remove this rot. We have to work together for this country's peace and the Islamic world's peace. We have a goal for the Middle East. The fate of the Middle East has always been pain, blood and tears. Why? Great wealth is underground, but that wealth can always become a disaster for countries. It is necessary to solve this in some way. When you make peace dominant and strengthen social solidarity, you can solve many problems.
We decided to establish the Middle East Peace and Cooperation Organization. The Middle East Peace and Cooperation Organization is Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. Why don't we come together? Why do we look at each other differently in the face of what is happening in the Middle East? Well, the problem can be solved. All right, we can come together. Very well, we can make a special effort to alleviate the suffering of the people here. All these things can happen; we can do all these things somehow.
Ramadan is also a month when we need to do some soul-searching. To know oneself, to do what Yunus says, 'Knowledge is to know Knowledge, Knowledge is to know yourself. If you don't know yourself, how much reading is this.' We have to know ourselves. And while we know ourselves, we must question everything in our conscience. In the face of injustice, we must at least bring our conscience to the point where we can say 'not so much'. Why should there be pain? Why should there be tears when we can experience beauty together? We have to make that question at least during the month of Ramadan, and this should also happen.
The Islamic world is complaining. I am not in favour of complaining, and I am in favour of solving problems. Do they need to be solved? They need to be solved. With what? We will solve them with the most precious treasure given to us by the Almighty Creator; that is, with reason, that is, with Knowledge, that is, with experience. Sometimes we may not have the chance to solve a problem alone. We will be together, we will be together, we will meet in beauty and solve this problem. A society that solves problems progresses faster and more robustly. Because problems can be solved with rational policies, problems cannot be solved with prejudices. It is not possible to do the same thing and expect different results. Therefore, using our minds, we can solve many problems with rational policies.
This is a bit long for a Ramadan evening, for a Ramadan table; I hope Mr. Temel will forgive me. Sir, I would like to sincerely thank you for your kindness and for coming here, and also to Mr. Karamollaoğlu, the esteemed Chairman, for bringing us together. I extend my heartfelt greetings and respect to the ambassadors and all the friends who attended. Thank you all, thank you all. I wish to be together in a problem-free, beautiful world, and I extend my greetings and regards to all of you again."
