CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu: Let’s Never forget this day

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Let's never forget today, my people; let the fallen not stay on the ground, let the right of the oppressed not be left to the Court. This country needs a new vitality, a new order, my people. The mentality of all of us has to change. The road ahead will be very long. That road will be very bumpy; the climb will be very steep. As they say, we cannot get where we need to go in a year or so. We have come to a point where we cannot manage with temporary solutions. The most painful thing is that the values that make us who we are have been damaged. Shamelessness, theft, rent-seeking, selfishness; we must end these immediately; they have eaten out the soul of Turkey. We must bring a new order where greed ends, and resources belong to all our people, not just a small minority."

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), visited earthquake-stricken areas, made inspections and met with earthquake victims throughout the day yesterday. Following the completion of his visits, CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced that he would make a statement at midnight with the message "Let's meet here in 1 hour" shared on his social media account.

CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu posted a message on his social media account at 01.00 am, in which he addressed from the disaster zone and said, "There are things to be done. There are responsibilities to be fulfilled. We have realities to face," he said in the video he shared with the note:

"My dear people, good night...

I address you from the night of a difficult day with deep heartache. There is a lot of struggle around here. Our people are fighting a fierce battle against time. You can be sure that our people are struggling hard. To save one more life, they are digging life tunnels in those rubble piles by breaking their fingernails to be a drop of light in the darkness of the rubble. The sons and daughters of Turkey have put their hearts on the line; God bless them all, and Turkey will never forget them.

We have lost many lives, my people, many lives. The earth will indeed embrace us all when the time comes, but as we say, "May God give death in order" I wish it were so... We are full of pain and shedding leaves all around us.

Some survived the wreckage; they struggled on the streets in the killing cold. There still needs to be coordination; there are no tents, toilets, the things you know... What else should I tell you in these pitch-dark hours?

Let's never forget this day, my people; let the fallen not stay on the ground, and let the right of the oppressed not be left to the Court.

This country needs a new vitality, a new order, my people. The mentality of all of us has to change. The road ahead will be very, very long. That road will be very bumpy, and the climb will be very steep. As they say, we cannot get where we need to go in a year or so. We have come to a point where we need help with temporary solutions. The most painful thing is that the values that make us who we are have been damaged. Shamelessness, theft, rent-seeking, and selfishness; we must end these immediately. They have bitten the soul of Turkey. We must bring a new order where greed ends and resources belong to all our people, not just a tiny minority. And believe me, and this cannot be done only with a change of power; we need more extensive transformations. We need to create an effective change by repairing every damaged structure one by one. We have to build a strong social state, a social state that never forgets that it exists for its citizens, out of this rubble. I wish we would do this together; let's not experience such pain due to preventable causes again; let this be the last time.
