CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu: "We want a Turkey where unqualified people do not become a contractor and do not build."

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Turkey is a great and beautiful country. But, unfortunately, these kinds of sufferings are the sufferings we encounter from time to time. We hope cities will be given critical importance and value. Buildings are made healthy and strong. We want a Turkey where competent people are employed, and municipalities pay more attention to their duties."

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made the following remarks to press members after his visits and inspections in Şanlıurfa, a disaster area:

Today we first visited Malatya, then Diyarbakır, and now we are in Şanlıurfa. We will spend the night here with our brothers and sisters from Şanlıurfa. We are making these visits with my friends, the Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality. We endeavour to have the citizens directly tell us about the problems, and we attempt to find solutions to the problems. They tell us, and we try to find solutions after we know the problems.

My brothers and sisters from Sanliurfa wish God's mercy to those who lost their lives and urgent healing to the wounded. Turkey is a great and beautiful country. But, unfortunately, these kinds of sufferings are the sufferings we encounter from time to time. We hope cities will be given critical importance and value. Buildings are made healthy and strong. We want a Turkey where competent people are employed, and municipalities pay more attention to their duties.

Human life is precious. Everyone working in the public sector must give the necessary respect and importance to people and human life while performing their duties. We are witnesses to the fact that Turkey encounters such painful incidents from time to time. We face significant incidents in specific periods. We want to learn a lesson from each event and avoid the same pain. This is our goal, our aim.

Of course, we live in earthquake geography. But politicians must build at least durable buildings not to endanger people's lives. We have to start a process in which taxes collected from citizens are spent in the right place, paid for the safety of citizens, and buildings are built on healthy ground. If we do not do this, we face such suffering. We wish God's mercy to those who died and our condolences to our other citizens.

From now on, if an earthquake is to happen, there must be durable buildings in cities. Cities must be livable. We should all be able to live in peace in these cities. I again wish my brothers and sisters from Şanlıurfa a good evening, and I want them to keep their spirits up. Turkey is a big, beautiful and prosperous country. When we all do our duties within this richness and greatness, you will see that we will live together in a more beautiful Turkey.
