EARTHQUAKE VICTIM LISTENED TO BY KILIÇDAROĞLU IN İSKENDERUN: "WHY NOBODY CARES ABOUT US?"

CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu arrived in the Iskenderun district of Hatay, which was affected by the earthquake disaster. Receiving information from Fatih Tosyalı, Mayor of Iskenderun Municipality, Kılıçdaroğlu listened to the problems and demands of the earthquake victims. A citizen told Kılıçdaroğlu, "These people are in a tough situation. However, no one cares why we are in such a difficult situation."

CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu travelled to Hatay after Adana, which was affected by the earthquake disaster. Kılıçdaroğlu, who visited İskenderun district of Hatay, was accompanied by CHP Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke, Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek.

Kılıçdaroğlu met with Iskenderun Mayor Fatih Tosyalı at the Iskenderun Municipality Building and was informed about the work carried out. Afterwards, Kılıçdaroğlu followed the search and rescue operations on site and listened to the problems and demands of the earthquake victims. An earthquake victim told Kılıçdaroğlu: "We are miserable; we have been here since yesterday. May God bless your work. All teams are working here. They came to us from Adana. Not one man has come from here. We are in a terrible situation." Kılıçdaroğlu replied, "I hope they all come out alive." Yurttaş said, "Akif Akay sent generators for them to work. He sent lamps, sent men, sent food. We do not see a single thing from İskenderun. Just today, AFAD has arrived, and they are working".

"Why does nobody care about us?"

A crying young man hugged Kılıçdaroğlu and said, "I can't stand it." Another citizen said, "Mr President, when will help come? These people are in a challenging situation. Why does nobody care about us?" he asked. Kılıçdaroğlu said, "We came here to make your voice heard. The TV channels are here; tell them to hear your demand. We are trying. We are here with our mayors; we are all here together. There are great troubles here, I know it too, you are experiencing it... I am suffering from it. Some lost their lives; your pain is in our hearts too. It's hard to be human and endure so much pain. But, you are waiting, that's the biggest pain... You hear the voice of the child..."

"ONLY SEYHAN MUNICIPALITY HAS HELPED SO FAR"

"So far, only Seyhan Municipality has helped us," said a female citizen near Isa Taş Plaza. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş said, "We are also receiving construction equipment; we have just been able to procure the vehicles. 15-20 of them are on their way. Approximately 500 personnel are coming," he replied.

"YOU CAME HERE FIRST. WE HAVE BEEN IN NEED OF BREAD SINCE LAST NIGHT"

A woman from Iskenderun said to Kılıçdaroğlu, "Mr President, we want a formula for our babies, we want nappies, we want water. You came here first. We have needed bread since last night. We have no blankets; our babies are eating formula. We have nothing. We want help for our babies. Formula, nappy..." Mansur Yavaş said, "I am sending it; it is on its way. It will come," he said.
