Özgür Özel in Antakya: "Hygiene, Water, Hunger Problems; Tents and Mobile Toilets Need to Come"

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel: "Whole neighbourhoods have collapsed in Antakya. There are hygiene problems, water problems, and hunger problems. As many tents and mobile toilets as possible should come here. The compassionate hand of the state and the nation should reach Antakya as soon as possible..."

CHP Antakya Deputy Mehmet Güzelmansur and CHP Istanbul Deputy Ali Şeker, together with CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel, made statements from Hatay; where they were on duty to determine the needs, eliminate the deficiencies and ensure coordination, said:

"We are in Antakya. Our Antakya MP Mehmet Güzelmansur, who lost many of his relatives and compatriots, and our Istanbul MP Ali Şeker are here with us. Unfortunately, since there is no hope of extracting anyone alive, work is being carried out in other rubble. Then, assuming no one is down there, rubble removal will be done instead of search and rescue. Those who have not seen Antakya today should not say that they have seen the earthquake. Whole neighbourhoods have collapsed in Antakya, and we are facing a loss that we are afraid to pronounce the number of casualties already. There are also hygiene problems, water problems and hunger problems. First of all, as many tents as possible should come here, mobile toilets should come here, there are few mobile kitchens, these should be increased rapidly. And the compassionate hand of the state and the nation must reach Antakya as soon as possible. A great lack of coordination has happened in Antakya from the first moment until today. We faced the uncoordination of the administrators and the inability of the central administration to coordinate with the local administration. In addition, the despair of the citizens has now turned into anger. Tents, heaters, kitchens, hygiene materials and mobile toilets should arrive here as soon as possible."
