CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Although 17 days have already passed, we are well aware that certain problems persist. Such as the water problem, the tent problem... They are expressed everywhere we go. This problem has to be resolved in one way or another. We are trying our best. When I first came to this region, I made this clear call: Whoever has a tent, let them know, regardless of the price. We will pick them up and distribute them to the earthquake victims. But sadly, tent producers are producing tents, but since there are not enough stocks in the hands of the state, the Red Crescent and AFAD, the producers cannot produce tents."
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu visited Antalya Metropolitan Municipality's soup kitchen in Defne, Hatay. Kılıçdaroğlu received information from officials about the work in the region.
CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu said the following in his statement here:
"This is one of the regions that suffered the most in the earthquake, as Mr. Mayor has just stated. We need to heal the wounds and build a Turkey with hope for the future. But, of course, our citizens have many problems. We know that. Although 17 days have passed, some needs still need to be met. But really, our mayors are making extraordinary efforts... I am not only talking about CHP mayors; all our mayors are making outstanding efforts. That is why I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my fellow mayors.
"IT IS THE COMMON DUTY OF ALL OF US TO BRING HATAY BACK TO ITS FEET, TO KEEP ITS GLORIOUS CULTURE ALIVE AGAIN, TO BRING ITS HISTORICAL TEXTURE BACK TO ITS FEET"
Hatay is an ancient city. Hatay is an essential city. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, 'Hatay is my personal matter'. Therefore, it is the common duty of all of us to bring Hatay back to its feet, revive its glorious culture, and restore its historical texture. We are making every effort we can, and we are determined to do so.
"PRODUCERS CAN NOT PRODUCE TENTS BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH STOCK IN THE HANDS OF KIZILAY AND AFAD"
We are aware that the people of Hatay have experienced great suffering. We also know that although 17 days have passed, certain problems persist. Such as the water problem, the tent problem... These are mentioned wherever we go. This has to be solved somehow. We are doing our best.
When I first came to this region, I made this clear call: 'If anyone has a tent, let them inform us regardless of the price, we will buy it and distribute it to the earthquake victims here'. But unfortunately, tent producers are producing tents, but since there are not enough stocks in the hands of the state, the Red Crescent and AFAD, the producers cannot produce tents. There is also such a problem. Hopefully, it will be solved. I don't want anyone to be in despair. I am aware of the tremendous tragedies.
May God have mercy on the victims and heal the wounded. We will solve the problems. No one should have the slightest concern about this. Our mayors are here; their teams and engineers are here; architects are here. I sincerely thank all my citizens, workers, and public, private and non-governmental organizations engaged in waterworks and rubble removal who voluntarily came and tried to rescue those under the rubble... I thank them all from the bottom of my heart."
