CHP Chairman Özgür Özel: “Both Parties Are Marching Hand in Hand, in Solidarity”

CHP GENEL BAŞKANI ÖZGÜR ÖZEL, CTP GENEL BAŞKANI İNCİRLİ İLE BİR ARAYA GELDİ

Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel met with Chairwoman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Sıla Usar İncirli, at the CHP Headquarters.

Speaking to the press following the meeting, CHP Chairman Özel stated:

“Distinguished members of the press, today we hosted Ms. Sıla Usar İncirli, the esteemed Chairwoman of our sister party CTP in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, along with her valued delegation. As you know, in the presidential elections held in Cyprus, Mr. Tufan Erhürman, who was the then Chairman and presidential candidate of the CTP, was elected President with a very high percentage of the vote. Following his election as President, he completed his duties within the party. The CTP then held its own Congress and, in a manner that should serve as an example to all of us, is continuing its path for the first time in its history under the leadership of a woman Chairperson.”

Özel continued as follows:

“During my visit to Cyprus on December 26, I visited the party headquarters to congratulate Ms. Sıla and the newly elected party leadership. Today, as part of their visit to Ankara, they honored us with a return visit to our headquarters.

Moreover, the congresses of our two sister parties were held on the same day. We were elected as party leaders on the very same day and congratulated one another. With this pleasant coincidence, both parties are continuing their journeys in their respective countries. We stand in solidarity.

As political actors who approach politics, the Cyprus issue, and the expectations of people from politics from the same perspective—and who entered politics with the same intentions—we continue our solidarity. Both of us emerged from our most recent elections with great success.

In the coming year, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will hold both local and general elections. In Türkiye, we are the hope for government in the event of an early election. In this sense, both our parties are marching hand in hand, in solidarity, toward government in their respective countries. I find this visit highly meaningful in this regard. Once again, I congratulate them and warmly welcome them.”
