CHP Chairperson Özgür Özel Visits Izzetbegovic's Mausoleum

- "WE EXPECT THE DEVELOPED WORLD NOT TO REMAIN SILENT ON PALESTINE"

Özgür Özel, Chairperson of the Republican People's Party, made the following statement after visiting the mausoleum of Aliya Izzetbegovic: "From here, in front of this martyrdom, in front of the eternal resting place of Aliya Izzetbegovic, in his presence, we say, do not forget the crimes against humanity and massacres. Do not remain silent about them. It is not enough to regret later, to declare war criminals or to confess. Today, we expect the developed world not to remain silent on Palestine."

In Sarajevo, Özel visited the Kovaci Martyrdom and subsequently the mausoleum of Aliya Izzetbegovic. In his statement after the visit, Özel said, "We are here on Bosnia's State Day. This is a very meaningful place for us. Between 1990-1995, a genocide took place here in front of the eyes of the whole world and unfortunately in front of the deep and shameful silence of the developed countries." "Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiative taken and diplomacy put forward by Hikmet Çetin, one of our former Chairmen and the Foreign Minister of that period, was very important. Again, I would like to remind you that our then Chairman Deniz Baykal came here to draw attention to the massacre and drew the world's attention here. Like all the chairmen of the CHP I want to point out that, our relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina and our interest in the issue continues and will continue to increase even more."

IF WE FORGET THE MASSACRE OF THAT PERIOD, TODAY'S MASSACRE WILL HAPPEN

Özel said, "Today, we are actually in a process to be taken as an admonishment for the world. I would like to remind the whole world of the words of the Knowledge Leader, Wise King Aliya Izzetbegovic, whose grave we have just offered a wreath and prayed for. 'Forgotten massacres are repeated.' Europe and the world, which forgot their silence between 90-95, are now responsible for the massacre committed by Israel in Palestine. Because in the past, while this was happening here, they remained silent, they watched and great massacres took place. We will soon visit the cemetery of babies. Thousands of babies are buried here. There are over 4 thousand children's graves in Palestine right now, children are buried in mass graves. If we forget the massacre in that period, today's massacre will happen."
